Location: The Sixth Form Bolton

Salary: SFCA Scale 20 to 23 (£34,391 to £37,385 Pro-Rata) Depending on skills, experience and qualifications)

Contract: Permanent/Part-Time – equivalent of 3 days per week, flexible to meet the demands of the role.

Key Responsibilities

As the Health and Safety Officer, you will:

• Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety policies and procedures in line with current legislation and best practices.
• Conduct regular risk assessments across college facilities, ensuring hazards are identified and managed effectively.
• Lead on accident investigations and implement corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
• Deliver health and safety training and inductions for staff and students.
• Act as the first point of contact for all health and safety-related queries and provide expert advice.
• Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, including conducting drills and maintaining records.
• Work collaboratively with the college’s leadership team to foster a culture of safety and well-being.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• A recognised qualification in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent).
• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within an educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and its practical application.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• A proactive and problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.
