Job description

An exciting time to join this well–established business during a time of growth and expansion, this is a key Management Role within the organisation (currently c.50 staff and part of a much bigger group) where you will have the opportunity to make a real difference and would suit someone who takes pride in their work and care about everything SHEQ ideally from a manufacturing background.

To ensure the effective management of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) standards within manufacturing operations. The role focuses on aligning practices with ISO standards, especially ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety, ensuring regulatory compliance, mitigating risks, and driving continuous improvement across safety, environmental, and quality systems.

With a minimum of 5 years of SHEQ management within a manufacturing industry implementing and maintaining ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 9001:2015 systems. Will need to be proactive, results driven with strong attention to detail, a high level of integrity and commitment to ethical practices. You will be self–motivated with the ability to plan your own workload conducting risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.

Planning and delivering comprehensive SHEQ training programs, emphasising ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001. Enhance employee awareness of SHEQ standards and responsibilities through workshops, toolbox talks, and onboarding sessions. Prepare and present regular SHEQ performance reports, including KPIs related to safety incidents, environmental impact, and product quality. Working closely with Engineering, Production and Maintenance teams. Developing and implementing QMS to ensure product meets client specifications and industry standards. Collaborate with production teams to optimise workflow and maintain consistent product quality.

Safety and Health Management (ISO 45001:2018):
  • Maintain and develop an Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) aligned with ISO 45001:2018 requirements.
  • Conduct gap analyses to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 45001:2018 standards and recommend improvements.
  • Identify and assess hazards in the manufacturing environment (e.g., heavy machinery, hazardous chemicals, working at height).
  • Develop & maintain risk assessments across all aspects of the site.
  • Lead investigations into safety incidents or near–misses and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging employees at all levels and fostering ownership of safety responsibilities.
  • Develop and oversee emergency preparedness plans, including drills for scenarios such as chemical spills, equipment failure, or fire.
Environmental Management (ISO 14001:2015):
  • Maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) aligned with ISO 14001:2015.
  • Oversee compliance with environmental legislation related to waste management, emissions control, and resource conservation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Manage environmental impact assessments and develop action plans to mitigate risks related to waste, resource use, & energy.
  • Lead initiatives to minimise the plant’s environmental footprint, such as recycling, energy efficiency programs, and pollution prevention measures.
  • Packaging waste compliance.
