Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Health and Safety Manager on a permanent basis, based in Oxfordshire.

Role Summary

We seek an experienced and pro-active SHEQ / Health and Safety manager to join our dynamic team currently delivering installation, maintenance, and product support services for LV and HV assets across the UK. The role will support a team of skilled LV/HV Engineers, SAP’s, managers and supporting staff across all aspects of the HV industry. The role is a balance of hybrid working including site visits (across the UK). The core hours are 07:30 to 16:00 Monday to Thursday, 07:30 am to 12:00 Friday.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Driving growth of our UK Energy Services business, through supporting all aspects of Health & Safety across all UK sites.
  2. Ensuring implementation of the Health and Safety Policy.
  3. Ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standard and compliance.
  4. Support teams and individuals with site documentation, H&S queries, and continual improvement.
  5. Support the department with H&S documents, procedures, job packs and programmes as required.
  6. Support the team in managing customer H&S communications, tenders, pre and post project documentation.
  7. Investigate incidents and accidents to establish root causes.
  8. Provide H&S reports and data to the UK H&S manager and Energy Services management team.
  9. Manage the application of H&S internally and externally with our clients and supporting contractors.
  10. Support the department's training requirements through assessment of skills analysis, progression, renewal, and legal requirements.
  11. Oversee customer and subcontractor H&S relationships.
  12. Attend meetings in Thame, at sites and customer premises when required.
  13. Carry out site audits, inspections, procedural checks and improve procedures.
  14. Manage commercial requirements by writing and issuing H&S documents, work packs, CDM plans and construction phase plans.
  15. Support external ISO audits, client audits and always ensure legal compliance.
  16. Support out of hours calls as required.
Requirements

Minimum:

  1. Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
  2. In-depth knowledge of health and safety legislation, management systems and practices, with a focus on construction and design management regulations.
  3. Experienced in developing Health and Safety practices and procedures.
  4. Experienced in identifying the root cause of incidents and accidents and the implementation of corrective actions.
  5. Proven experience in health and safety advisory roles, preferably within the construction or energy industries.
  6. Strong understanding of risk management methodologies and techniques.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  8. Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
  9. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Proficiency in MS Office suite and health and safety management software.
  11. Full driver’s license and ability to travel nationally.

Desirable:

  1. Experience in auditing against international standards ISO9001, ISO 14001 & ISO45001.
  2. Working knowledge of Quality and Environmental management.
  3. Knowledge of Electrical engineering, construction planning, site management and logistics.
  4. Willingness to assist in out of hours calls.
  5. Experience in a multi-cultural environment.
  6. Previous Safety, Health, Environment and Quality management experience.
  7. Good knowledge of construction H&S.
