Health and Safety Manager

Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in Greater Manchester is currently recruiting for a Health & Safety Manager to join their Housing Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a housing environment.

The Role
Key purpose of the role is to provide expertise to support the implementation and development of H&S policies and procedures as well as providing oversight and scrutiny of other Building Safety Teams.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

1. Raising awareness and supporting managers to recognize and understand their H&S responsibilities and obligations.
2. Promoting health & safety throughout the business by working closely with site teams to ensure a safe environment.
3. Supporting Repairs, Neighbourhoods, and Investment teams with on-site and occupational H&S, including carrying out audits.
4. Setting up a Permit to Work system for communal areas, working with Asbestos and Fire leads to ensure process maps are designed in collaboration with Repairs and Capital Works Teams.
5. Designing and producing a plan to bring CDM in-house in collaboration with the Capital Works Team.

The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:

1. NEBOSH or equivalent in Health & Safety.
2. Experience of working in a similar role for another Social Housing provider.
3. Experience of managing contractors.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

1. Experience of working in a similar role in a Local Authority setting.
2. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to write reports and liaise effectively with colleagues and external contacts.
3. Pro-active and transparent approach to Health & Safety.
4. Ability to manage, process, report on, and analyze data.
5. Knowledge of CDM & contractor management preferably within repairs and maintenance.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £300 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £240 per hour PAYE).
