Job Description

Working on one of Great Bear’s largest key site and reporting directly to the General Manager, this role will contribute to the success of the site by supporting the Senior Management Team beyond the day-to-day running of the warehouse & distribution operation. You will be instrumental in driving the Health and Safety strategy to ensure the site remains compliant and in good order.

Experience in COSHH would be advantageous.

Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday, 09:00-17:00

Salary: £27,000-£33,000 DOE

Daily duties as Health & Safety Coordinator:

• Chair Monthly H&S forums and deliver/respond to actions raised – at all levels (GWO & Management)
• Implementations of the site Medium and Long term Health, Safety strategy
• Track site trends for accidents and incidents and deliver improvements in key areas YoY/MoM
• Deliver site H&S roadmap & associated pop-up training sessions
• Ensure site training matrix and plan is up to date and compliant
• Ensuring a suitable risk assessment process to establish MAH scenarios is implemented
• Provide guidance and advice to the region on compliance with all statutory requirements and company standards
• Encourage employee involvement in Health, Safety and Environmental issues
• Support managers in Health and Safety Risk Assessments / COSHH Assessments to ensure that legislative standards are met or exceeded
• Participate in Health, Safety and Environmental training for established staff and provide induction training for all new entrants including agency staff
• Understand and advise on current H&S legislation, guidance and best practice
• H&S annual audit responsibility of actions that arise for completion within the required timescales

Qualifications:

• Flexibility within the role to be able to contribute to a variety of areas within the operation
• Must be a team player who is self-driven and able to work on their own initiative and make decisions
• Able to demonstrate a high level of attention to detail
• Should demonstrate the drive and desire to progress
• Strong interpersonal, conciliation skills and the capacity to network at many levels
• Assessing Control of Systems Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
• Maintaining role of Fire Marshal
• Training trainers on Evacuation procedure
• Maintaining Safe Systems of Work Assessor
• Super-user for Evotix
• Devising and delivering safety briefs including safety conversations
• Supporting site facilities for holiday and absence cover including issuing and control of permits to work
• Supporting regional Health and Safety Manager for other site activities such as site audits, training for the wider team in Risk assessments, contractors and permit to work training, fire assessment and evacuation training
