Health and Safety Advisor - Construction

£50,000 per annum

London

Over the last decade, our client has grown significantly and continues to expand its portfolio of works requiring a dedicated team and resource to enable the company to deliver the best possible service to all clients.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a continually growing business where you will have a direct impact on health, safety, and environmental processes.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must have experience in the application of Health and Safety practices on construction sites.
  • Must be well versed in writing RAMS.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate and the desire to work towards diploma.
  • IOSH membership.
  • Practical understanding and approach to managing QHSE.
  • CSCS card.
  • Health and Safety and Environment Health and Safety (EHS) knowledge and experience.
  • Occupational Health expertise.
  • Knowledge of COSHH, CDM, LOLER standards and regulations.
  • Knowledge of specific skilled trades/type of work such as painting, stonemasonry, HGV drivers and façade/stone cleaners.
  • Ability to access heights via ladders, scaffolding and MEWPS.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), and the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and enhance culture.
  • Good listening skills – the ability to listen effectively and receive feedback from the employee perspective without passing judgment.
  • Good organisational and recordkeeping abilities – the ability to maintain good records of all safety-related activities.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, with ability to work proactively with people at all levels.
  • Excellent team player with an outgoing and friendly manner.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a methodical and organised manner.
  • High level organisation skills with the ability to work independently and prioritise workload to meet fixed deadlines.
  • A full UK driving licence is desirable.

Role Purpose:

The role will ensure the ongoing maintenance of HSEQ paperwork including writing RAMS whilst providing the opportunity for hands-on support on sites to the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Writing site specific RAMS.
  • Developing and maintaining QHSE policies and procedures and documentation to ensure compliance and best practice.
  • Maintaining safety related paperwork, including plant logs and safety training certifications.
  • Training company employees on safe work practices and emergency procedures and undertaking Health and Safety inductions and toolbox talks.
  • Disseminating Health and Safety information and documents ensuring all is completed and compliant.
  • Managing digital safety checklist software - iAuditor.
  • Managing Health and Safety database and training software - Citation and Atlas.
  • Completing annual HSEQ responses for external safety platforms and client PQQ platforms.
  • Ensuring that appropriate PPE is issued, logged and used correctly by employees.
  • Attending and providing information at the weekly ‘Monday Management Meeting’.
  • Preparing the roll out of Health and Safety training annually and preparing funding and grant paperwork for CITB application in conjunction with the People and Culture Manager.
