Our client is a well-established carpentry subcontractor based in Hertfordshire, their portfolio includes residential and commercial. Due to continued growth, they're seeking a Health and Safety Advisor to join their team.

Role Overview: As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a vital role in promoting a culture of safety across all the sites. You will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of health and safety policies and practices, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and fostering a safe working environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide advice and support to site teams on all health and safety matters, ensuring adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, assess compliance, and recommend improvements.
  • Assist in carrying out detailed risk assessments and method statements, ensuring all necessary control measures are in place.
  • Deliver health and safety inductions and ongoing training sessions to employees and subcontractors, ensuring everyone is aware of their responsibilities.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of all health and safety activities, including risk assessments, site inspections, training, and incident reports.
  • Support the continuous improvement of health and safety standards by staying up-to-date with the latest legislation, industry trends, and best practices.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on health and safety performance, highlighting any areas of concern and progress on improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a Health and Safety role within the construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of UK health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage with site teams.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in identifying and addressing safety issues.
