Health & Safety Advisor required in SE London

GVR Solutions are currently in the market for a Health and Safety Advisor to join one of our longest standing clients. As a main contractor, they get involved in a range of full refurbishment, maintenance, and build services in both the residential and housing sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Create, implement, and maintain health and safety policies and procedures.
2. Ensure the organization complies with all health and safety legislation.
3. Producing and updating Construction Phase Plans.
4. Perform regular risk assessments and produce method statements.
5. Create site folders and prepare site boxes for projects.
6. Carry out site safety inspections and recommend improvements based on findings.
7. Compile, create, and distribute Health & Safety Files upon completion of works.
8. Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses and report RIDDOR reportable incidents as required.
9. Act as a point of contact for health and safety-related issues to staff and contractors.
10. Organise and conduct training sessions for employees on health and safety practice.
11. Maintain records of safety inspections, risk assessments, and training sessions.
12. Implement programs to promote workplace health and well-being.
13. Approve Sub-Contractors and upload and update their Health & Safety documentation on the system.
14. Order PPE/RPE and ensure stock levels are acceptable.
15. Ensure plant register is correct, updated, and maintained, organising servicing/calibration of equipment at regular intervals when due.
16. Update SSIP information to keep accreditations up to date.
17. Assist with internal ISO45001 audits, as well as the annual external audit, ensuring company compliance.
18. Attend monthly line managers meetings and report as per agenda.

Skills & Qualifications:

1. NEBOSH National Construction Certificate (minimum)
2. IOSH Tech (minimum)
3. Construction or engineering background
4. Good knowledge of applicable safety regulations
5. Good knowledge and experience of ISO45001, ISO14001, ISO9001
6. Problem-solving, incident management, auditing, and analysis skills
7. People management, training, presentation, and communication skills
8. Ability to work well in digital and mobile environments
9. Project and change management skills
10. Good communication skills in both written and spoken English
11. Competent with Microsoft packages: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
