Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead the global user experience team of Induction Healthcare. Our B2B SaaS products transform the interactions between patients and care teams, helping patients take an active role in their health management, and supporting more efficient care delivery through integration with clinical hospital systems.

You will lead a team accountable for user research, UX/UI design, and technical writing, across the entire product design process.You will champion the user experience and help develop our design maturity, while continuously balancing design decisions with technical feasibility and business priorities.

As a senior manager, you are expected to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with stakeholders in Product Management, Business Analysis, Engineering, Delivery, and Quality Assurance, to help deliver our product strategy and roadmap.

Key Accountabilities

Effectively manage the UX function to improve user experience, deliver customer value, and drive business outcomes:

  • Create and manage effective design processes all the way from definition and ideation through to design and delivery.
  • Engage in product discovery processes to analyse and define problems and guide design decisions that help solve them.
  • Manage user research processes to inform, test, and review designs.
  • Create and manage effective ways to deliver high quality UX copy.
  • Evolve our design system so that it gradually improves usability and accessibility for our users, and reusability and efficiency for engineers.
  • Ensure that designs delivered by the UX team:
  • Reflect healthcare specific considerations, particularly in relation to clinical safety and information governance.
  • Can be implemented in a way that conforms to WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility criteria.
  • Adhere to GDS (Government Design System) standards where applicable (e.g. for NHS App integration).

Lead the global UX team:

  • Coach and develop the professional growth of the individuals within the team.
  • Set professional standards for the UX function and put in place the right processes and tooling to drive excellence.
  • Build effective cross-functional working relationships.
  • Ensure the right balance between design solutions, technical feasibility, and business priorities.
  • Present and champion UX initiatives.
  • Define, monitor, and improve relevant team KPIs, and provide management reporting as required.
  • Plan, allocate and manage the budget of the UX team.

Person Specification

Experience:

  • Extensive experience managing all aspects of product design processes, preferably for a B2B SaaS product.
  • Proven experience building and leading high-performing UX teams.
  • Strong practitioner experience of user research, UX design, UI design, and content writing.
  • Experience of designing healthcare software products is a plus.
  • Understanding of public healthcare systems, funding, and processes is a plus.

Skills & competencies:

  • Strong UX/UI design skills.
  • Proven team leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – in-person, on video, asynchronously - with people at all levels.
  • Adopts a highly collaborative approach with Product, Engineering and Delivery teams throughout the development lifecycle and fosters strong working relationships.
  • Able to work effectively with remote teams split across time zones.
  • Strong business acumen and commercially astute.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and coordinating skills.
  • Open-minded and positive attitude – able to learn and adapt from feedback – and incorporate multiple perspectives into decision-making processes.
