We're Aegon. We're a company of ambitious, positive problem-solvers who get things done. We're a team, not a group of individuals. Collaboration is our life force and we believe it's our duty to leave things better than we find them.

We help people live their best lives. We help them with the big stuff, for the moments that matter: Pensions, Savings, Investments. At Aegon, we strive in creating a diverse organisation that plays a meaningful role in driving greater equity, inclusion and belonging.

Our Technology Management team is a newly evolving department who will be integral to the business operations of our Technology function, encompassing areas such as Vendor Management, First Line Risk and Controls, Budget Management, and technology-owned change portfolios. This is an exciting time to help build the department, move forward modern principles and implement efficiencies.

We now have an opportunity for a Head of Technology Governance to join us in Edinburgh. This is a vibrant senior leadership role tasked with establishing and maintaining a comprehensive technology governance framework within our organisation - this is an opportunity to create something fantastic and take your team along on the transformation journey with you. You will ensure that all technology activities are aligned with Aegon's strategic objectives, regulatory requirements, and risk management practices. You will collaborate closely with executive leadership, IT, compliance, and other key stakeholders to drive effective governance of technology resources, processes, and investments including:

  • Establishing policies, standards, and procedures for technology management and oversight.
  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating technology-related risks, ensuring that risk management practices are integrated into all technology initiatives.
  • Ensuring that technology investments and initiatives support Aegon's strategic objectives and deliver value.
  • Collaborating with business units to understand their technology needs and align them with the overall technology strategy.
  • Monitoring and ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Developing and implementing metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of technology governance practices.
  • Providing regular reports to executive leadership on the status of technology governance, including risk assessments, compliance, and performance metrics.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, IT, compliance, and business units.
  • Leading initiatives to continuously improve the technology governance framework and practices.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
  • A strong understanding of technology governance frameworks and experience in driving best practices, consistently looking to modernise working practises.
  • Excellent knowledge of risk management, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels and take them along on the transformation journey.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing technology governance frameworks and policies.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry, engaging with senior leadership and regulatory bodies.

What's in it for you?
  • A non-contributory pension between 8%-12%
  • A discretionary bonus, depending on personal and company performance
  • 38 days leave per year (including bank holidays, pro-rated for part-time)

We also offer private medical cover, life assurance, critical illness cover, enhanced parental leave and a variety of lifestyle benefits to help our employees live their best lives, including retail discount vouchers, cycle2work scheme, subsidised restaurant and online GP appointments.

Transformation change is never easy and if this excites you as much as it does us, we would love to hear from you.
