Job Description:

As Head of Supply Chain and Procurement, you will be responsible for overseeing and optimising end-to-end supply chain operations to ensure the continuous, cost-effective, and timely delivery of goods and services. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing robust supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives while fostering strong supplier relationships and driving continuous improvement initiatives across procurement, logistics, and planning. You will lead and mentor a high-performing team, collaborate with cross-functional departments, and ensure that supply chain processes adhere to customer demands, regulatory requirements, and sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Serve as a key member of the Site Leadership Team, driving operational excellence and strategic initiatives.
  2. Champion a culture that reflects Senior Aerospace Bird Bellows’ core values, fostering a proactive, results-driven, and customer-focused mindset.
  3. Define, develop, and execute a comprehensive Procurement strategy at the site level, ensuring alignment with business objectives and cost-saving targets.
  4. Oversee planning and scheduling processes to maximise manufacturing productivity and efficiency while meeting customer requirements.
  5. Manage and control the site Procurement budget, ensuring strategic and cost-effective sourcing decisions.
  6. Lead and implement cost-reduction and value-engineering initiatives across the site’s supply chain.
  7. Establish and mature a supplier audit framework in collaboration with the Quality team to ensure defect-free parts and supplier compliance.
  8. Manage and oversee supplier work transfers and site-related projects, ensuring seamless transitions with minimal operational disruption.
  9. Develop and maintain the site’s inventory strategy, balancing lean stockholding with an efficient purchasing plan to reduce working capital without compromising production schedules.
  10. Oversee logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution, to enhance delivery efficiency and reduce costs.

Key Skills & Experience

  1. Proven leadership experience in supply chain, procurement and operations management within the Aerospace sector.
  2. Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to negotiate contracts and drive cost efficiencies.
  3. Experience in supplier development, auditing, and risk management within a complex manufacturing environment.
  4. Demonstrated success in inventory optimisation and lean supply chain methodologies.
  5. Excellent stakeholder management skills with a track record of driving collaboration and strategic partnerships.
  6. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in supply chain analytics, ERP systems, and digital procurement tools.
  7. In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and sustainability initiatives within the supply chain.
  8. Exceptional leadership and team development skills, with the ability to inspire and drive high performance.
