Job summary

The three Partner Trusts (Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation Trust and York & Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) have an objective of creating a single procurement function to support the sustainable provision of clinical and non-clinical services.

Newly formed Humber & North Yorkshire Procurement Collaborative, hosted by Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, will provide procurement and supply chain services to its Partner Trusts, and may extend over time to service other bodies within the Integrated Care System.

You will work as the Head of Supply Chain across all Partner Trusts as a credible supply chain lead providing strategic advice and guidance to clinical and corporate colleagues. You will act as a trusted supply chain head encouraging collaboration between Care Groups and Procurement across all Partner Trusts to maximise procurement and commercial outcomes for the patients in our care.

You will, through the agreed policies and procedures, support the Deputy Director of Supply Chain in managing the supply chain service across multiple trusts to identify supply chain projects, saving opportunities and manage contract performance of NHS Supply Chain within the constraints of the collaborative's strategic plan. You will provide a commercially focused, dynamic service which encourages innovation, delivers value and achieves social value and sustainability improvements for Partner Trusts.

Main duties of the job

You will investigate complex supply chain enquiries, provide advice and contribute to corporate reporting across all three trusts. You will present the procurement collaborative as a progressive, responsive and innovative group who provide new thinking which works collaboratively to positively influence others' perception concerning the value of effective and efficient supply chain services ensuring that a cost effective work programme is developed and maintained to achieve target financial savings.

Candidates can select their base, although will be expected to attend all Trust sites to build relationships with our customers. Flexible working is promoted and you will be expected to manage your own time in the most efficient way to meet deadlines and achieve objectives.

Lead a team of 3 Trust Supply Chain Managers and will actively support them in their own development needs and aspirations.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Requires specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience having worked in previous supply chain positions.
  • Knowledge of supply chain strategy acquired by professional qualification (CIPS/CILT) or vocational level 4 plus degree or equivalent experience.
  • Additional specialist knowledge in supply chain management obtained via further training to post graduate level or equivalent experience.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply or Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
Desirable

  • Leadership qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience

Essential

  • Experience in managing teams across various sites.
  • Experience of implementing strategy with evidence of monetary savings and innovative ways of working.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of performance measurement.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of risk assessment and contingency planning.
Desirable

  • NHS experience.
  • Experience of using inventory management systems to suit the needs of the service.
