About easyJet:
When it comes to innovation and achievement there are few organisations with a better track record. Join us and you’ll be able to play a big part in the success of our highly successful, fast-paced business that opens up Europe so people can exercise their get-up-and-go. With over 347 aircraft flying over 1099 routes to more than 35 countries, we’re the UK’s largest airline, the fourth largest in Europe and the tenth largest in the world. Flying over 90 million passengers a year, we employ over 16,000 people. Its big-scale stuff and we’re still growing.

The Role:
As the Head of Software Engineering within our eCommerce division, you will report directly to the eCommerce Director. This role is crucial for leading the engineering of all products and platforms, with oversight of our Software, Platform and Quality Engineering teams, as well as ownership of the architecture of our delivered Products and Platforms.

What You Will Do:
You will lead a diverse team of software, platform and quality engineers, creating a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Overseeing the development of software applications, ensuring adherence to best practices, and keeping abreast of industry trends to maintain our competitive edge.
  2. Ensuring that our strategic suppliers are providing the required skills whilst also building our in-house capability in key strategic engineering roles, both on-shore and near-shore.
  3. Managing the budgets of our retained platform and quality engineering teams ensuring they are able to support the needs of our Product and Platform teams whilst also continually improving the capability of their services.
  4. Working closely with the Head of Product Engineering and Head of Platform Delivery to ensure that they have the right engineering capabilities for delivery, and architectural support.
  5. Ensuring we have standardised support processes in place across our teams, with the appropriate instrumentation and logging to enable our Product and Platform teams to operate in a DevOps approach (build it, run it).

Who We Are Looking For:
We need a strategic thinker with extensive experience in managing large-scale agile software engineering teams in B2C and B2B environments. You should have hands-on experience with modern DevOps tools and be capable of leading teams across multiple locations. Your ability to effectively communicate and manage senior stakeholder relationships will be key to your success in this role along with practical experience of different agile delivery models. You should also have a good appreciation of software design principles, with applied knowledge of composable and micro-service architectures in a cloud native environment.

Personal Attributes:
You should have strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technology solutions for various audiences. Your leadership style should promote teamwork and innovation, and you should be known for your proactive and organised approach. A fit with easyJet’s informal yet professional culture is essential.

Benefits:
- Competitive base salary with up to 30% bonus potential.
- Generous holiday allowance of 25 days.
- Comprehensive pension scheme and life assurance.
- Flexible benefits package
- Exclusive staff travel benefits.
- Private Medical Insurance
