Head of Service – Vulnerable Adolescent Service

Trafford Council – 6-Month Assignment

Location: M32, Greater Manchester

Rate: £400 - £450 per day

Duration: 6 months


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of Service to lead Trafford Council’s Vulnerable Adolescent Service, overseeing:

  1. Youth Justice Service
  2. Complex Safeguarding Service
  3. Youth Engagement Service

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across the service areas.
  2. Ensure high-quality, responsive services for vulnerable adolescents.
  3. Lead on safeguarding and youth justice initiatives.
  4. Work collaboratively with key stakeholders and partner agencies.
  5. Manage budgets, drive performance, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  1. Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW) with SWE registration.
  2. Extensive senior management experience in Children’s Services.
  3. Strong knowledge of safeguarding best practices and youth justice frameworks.
  4. Proven track record of leading multi-disciplinary teams and delivering service improvements.
