Job Description

Job Title: Head of Talent

Location: Cambridge, UK (Hybrid)

Type: Full-time

Industry: Biotechnology / Life Sciences

About Us

We are an ambitious biotech company based in Cambridge, focused on developing transformative therapies through cutting-edge science and a mission-driven culture. Backed by leading investors and world-class scientists, we are scaling rapidly and entering a pivotal stage of growth.

We believe that our people are our strongest asset—and we’re looking for an exceptional Head of Talent to lead the charge in building and nurturing a world-class team.

The Role

As Head of Talent, you’ll be responsible for designing and executing the talent strategy that underpins our next stage of growth. You’ll work closely with the executive leadership team to identify talent gaps, lead end-to-end recruitment across all departments, and ensure we hire not just for skill—but for culture, values, and long-term impact.

This is a high-ownership, strategic role with the opportunity to shape the future of a company at the forefront of biotech innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and execute the full talent strategy—from workforce planning to employer branding and executive search.
  • Build and scale hiring processes across scientific, operational, and commercial teams.
  • Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements, streamline interview processes, and deliver outstanding candidate experiences.
  • Develop and maintain strong talent pipelines for high-priority roles across R&D, clinical, regulatory, and G&A functions.
  • Build the company’s employer brand and represent us at key industry events, conferences, and universities.
  • Oversee and optimize the use of ATS and other talent tools to ensure efficiency and scale.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across all hiring and internal mobility practices.
  • Lead and mentor a small but high-performing internal talent team as the company grows.
  • Collaborate with People & Culture on onboarding, development, and retention initiatives.

About You

  • 7+ years of talent acquisition experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or head-of-role.
  • Proven success hiring across multiple disciplines—especially scientific, R&D, and technical roles in a biotech, pharma, or life sciences setting.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, scaling startup environment where priorities evolve quickly.
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence at C-level.
  • Deep understanding of talent acquisition best practices, employer branding, and DEI strategy.
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on ability—you’re equally happy shaping high-level plans and jumping into the trenches.
  • Excellent communicator and cultural ambassador.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience scaling teams in Series A-C biotech or deep tech startups.
  • Familiarity with UK/EU talent markets, immigration processes, and compliance.
  • A background in science, life sciences, or a genuine passion for biotechnology.

Why Join Us?

  • Work at the forefront of scientific innovation with real potential to change lives.
  • Collaborate with world-renowned scientists, clinicians, and operators.
  • Be part of a deeply mission-driven, values-led culture.
  • Competitive salary, equity, and benefits package.
  • Flexible hybrid work policy based in Cambridge HQ.
  • Opportunity to make a lasting impact on the company’s DNA.
