Job description

Group Head of Procurement, Property and Facilities £80-£95k doe - Full time/permanent/Hybrid working after initial probation period


Location: Fleetwood-Fylde Coast and Preston


The Group Head of Procurement is responsible for developing and executing the procurement strategy across multiple business units within the organisation and will be reporting to the CFO.


This role will oversee sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiations, and procurement operations to ensure cost efficiency, compliance, and strategic alignment with business objectives.


The role requires strong leadership as you will be managing a team of 3/4, analytical, and negotiation skills to drive value and mitigate risks in the supply chain.


Role and Responsibilities (but not limited to):
  1. Develop and implement the organisation's group-wide procurement strategy to achieve cost savings and operational efficiency.
  2. Align procurement policies and practices with the company's long-term business objectives.
  3. Lead initiatives to optimise supply chain processes and drive digital transformation in procurement.
  4. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating favourable terms and conditions.
  5. Conduct supplier evaluations, risk assessments, and performance reviews.
  6. Develop a supplier diversity and sustainability strategy to ensure ethical and responsible sourcing.
  7. Oversee the group-wide procurement budget, ensuring cost-effective purchasing decisions.
  8. Negotiate high-value contracts and agreements to maximise value and minimise risks.
  9. Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and economic factors affecting procurement decisions.
  10. Ensure compliance with procurement regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
  11. Implement robust procurement governance frameworks to mitigate fraud and inefficiencies.
  12. Establish and track KPIs for procurement performance across all business units.
  13. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team across multiple locations.
  14. Work closely with finance, operations, and senior management to align procurement strategies with business goals.
  15. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the procurement function.

Knowledge and Skills:
  1. Extensive procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  2. Proven track record of managing large procurement budgets.
  3. Strong negotiation, contract management, and vendor relationship skills.
  4. Experience in global sourcing, risk management, and procurement digitisation.
  5. Knowledge of procurement software (SAP, Oracle, Coupa, Ariba, etc.).

Qualifications and Education Ideal Requirements:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  2. Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, CSCP) are highly desirable.
