The Recruitment Bunker are recruiting exclusively for a Head of Procurement/Procurement Director for a leading group of companies based in Coventry.

The DRVN group are looking for an experienced individual with a deep understanding of the Automotive Engineering industry and proven success of supporting full Vehicle Programmes. You will play a pivotal role in our organisation's success by overseeing all procurement activities related to our automotive operations across the UK, EU and the USA.

You will lead a team of procurement professionals, ensuring that the sourcing and supply chain processes are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with the company's strategic goals.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality vehicle programmes on time and within budget. Focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supplier relationship management.
  • Supplier Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier performance to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with support functions, engineering, production, and project management teams to understand project requirements and ensure that procurement activities support the overall project goals.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, accountability, and professional development and ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Material, Planning and Logistics: Oversee the M, P & L function and management of materials required for production, ensuring that inventory levels are optimised, and materials are available as needed.
  • Planning and Scheduling: Develop and manage procurement schedules in coordination with production and project timelines.
  • Logistics Coordination: Coordinate the logistics and transportation of materials and products, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Cost Management: Drive cost reduction initiatives and identify opportunities for value engineering to optimise procurement processes.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure procurement processes comply with industry regulations, legislations and standards.
  • Market Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies to make informed decisions and drive strategic procurement initiatives.
  • Performance Reporting: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to procurement activities.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, CIPS, Supply Chain Management, or a qualification within a related field.
  • Extensive proven ability of working at a director level within an Automotive or Manufacturing procurement function.
  • Material, Planning and Logistics management experience.
  • Strong sense of ‘business acumen’ and analytical skills.
  • Experience in supplier relationship management, negotiations, and cost down activities.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, along with excellent stakeholder management.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • IT literate – Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have IDLR/Full Rights to Work in UK - Sponsorship or Work Permits will not be accepted/ provided.
