Head of Planning
Salary: £67,941 – £72,648 (pending pay award)
Location: West Bridgford, Nottingham
With good transport links via the M1, Rushcliffe is a place that offers the best of both worlds: the delights of rural living, alongside a lively town centre and leafy suburbs in West Bridgford. Whilst close to Nottingham, Rushcliffe has a strong identity of its own and is home to some iconic sporting venues including the world famous Trent Bridge.
We have a clear vision and we’re an ambitious and high performing council, a borough of growth, a founding member of the East Midlands Freeport and engaged with the new East Midlands County Combined Authority. Rushcliffe continues to deliver significant growth, exceeding delivery of over 1000 dwellings a year. We are part of the Greater Nottingham Planning Partnership, which is an excellent example of joint working at strategic and cross boundary level, and submission of the new Local Plan is expected later this year.
As part of our exciting and ambitious agenda, we are now looking for our next Head of Planning to continue our journey. Reporting to the Director of Development & Economic Growth, this role provides a brilliant opportunity to lead on the delivery of several large sustainable urban extensions, including close working with stakeholders and agencies such as East Midlands Combined County Authority, MHCLG, Homes England, ATLAS and the East Midlands Freeport. Other upcoming projects include master planning town centres, implementation of the Ratcliffe on Soar LDO and embedding the new Design Code, all with a strong focus on place making.
We are therefore looking to attract a Planner with proven local government experience of successfully delivering planning projects, driving demonstrable improvement, building excellent relationships with customers and stakeholders and leading a high performing team. You'll bring a curious mindset and work hard to build connections in the area while giving clear and honest advice to senior officers and Elected Members. In return, you'll join a supportive and rewarding team that values and actively develops your talents.
We also understand the importance of an effective work-life balance, therefore offer an enviable hybrid working approach, managed effectively around business need. At Rushcliffe Borough Council, we know that our biggest strength comes from our people.
With the clear planning focus from Central Government, and our exciting agenda to deliver, Rushcliffe’s ambitious Planning Team is ready for the new challenges ahead. If you feel that you have the skills and experience for this exciting role, we would really welcome you to apply!
