What you'll do:
- Manage the relationship between the customer, Telent and other key suppliers to the program
- Manage the operations of the program and the resources in our Bridgwater facility
- Work closely with the design and delivery teams to ensure we deliver against the contract
Key outline to the project, the customer and our responsibilitiesThe project is part of the Hinkley Point C (HPC) programme to install a nuclear power station using two reactors of the type known as European Pressurised Reactor or Evolutionary Pressurised Reactor (EPR) at Hinkley Point in Somerset.
The client - known as the Employer - is Nuclear New Build (NNB) Generation Company (HPC) Limited. NNB is a venture between Électricité de France (EDF), who will operate the power station and China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN), which has a financial stake in the programme. On completion, the power station will provide 7% of the United Kingdom's electricity.
Telent - known as the Contractor - is to design, supply, install and commission the Information Technology (IT) and communication equipment including the Data and Communications Systems (DTV). The award of the contract from NNB to Telent has been assigned as Work Package HK5313 - IT and Communications. This DTV system comprises of the following:
- Corporate Data Network (KLE) - Internet Protocol (IP) Network - including Data Centre, Core, Distribution and Access layers
- Radio Services - deployment of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) across the environment supporting resilient Radio Services (Site, Paging and Emergency Services Network (ESN).
- Unified Communications and Messaging - to support a consistent set of voice, video and messaging capabilities
- Television (TV) and Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) - distributed IPTV capability
- Terminals - End user communication devices
- Public Address and Voice Alarm (PAVA) System
- Process and Production (PaP) - deployment of a site wide Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) network
- Sound Powered Telephones (SPT)
- Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) - multiple small UPS units
An operations manager to take ownership and ensure a safe, compliant and on time delivery execution to schedule for the DTV system across all of the HK5313 contractWho you are:Key requirements:- Minimum 5 years' experience of installation work in a controlled Construction Environment
- Understanding of what is required from our customer with regard to the Nuclear Safety Culture and recognise shortcomings in this regard.
- An excellent track record of developing and implementing management controls and process to ensure optimum delivery strategies are deployed.
Skills/Qualifications- A strong Telecoms background is essential with at least 2-5 years' experience in managing & delivering telecoms projects along with an understanding of access processes and requirements to work on major construction sites.
- Project management qualification (Prince 2, APM) preferred but not essential.
- Full Driving License
