Contract Summary

Contract length: Permanent

Working weeks: Full time, all year round

Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The role: The Head of Operations and Facilities holds a pivotal role at the heart of our dynamic and historic School. It is a unique, busy position that leads the day-to-day provision of the services that support the School, along with your team who manage transport, health and safety, soft services and caretaking services. Working closely with the Bursar, you will foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation to drive operational excellence. It is a rare opportunity to play a valued part within a School that has a brand which is known world-wide.

The skills: This role will suit a candidate who relishes the versatility of a wide remit to guide whole organisational development and deliver a first-class operational service. You will have extensive experience of strategy and operations at a senior level within a complex organisation. Using your charismatic, compassionate and collegiate leadership style, you will motivate a multi-discipline team. Your warm, eloquent and approachable communication abilities and highly visible presence will build trust and collaborative relationships throughout the site. You will establish a reputation for sound, pragmatic judgment to deliver excellence.

The environment: Harrow School is situated in Harrow on the Hill, northwest London, and is one of the best-known schools in the world. Around 835 boys study at Harrow and live in the Schools 12 boarding houses. The Schools estate extends to over 324 acres with approximately 150 buildings (many of which are listed), 70 acres of woodlands and gardens, a 60-acre farm and 120 acres of sports fields including a nine-hole golf course.
