A newly established holding management company with HQ in London is working in partnership with GRS Recruitment to hire a Ukrainian/Russian speaking Head of Legal to join their team on a remote basis. The successful candidate will be responsible to lead the legal strategy and manage all legal affairs of the company and its associated entities ensuring effective legal risk management, compliance with all relevant regulations, and support for business operations and strategic initiatives. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Legal Strategy Development: Formulate and implement legal strategies that align with the management company’s goals and risk management framework.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the management company and portfolio companies comply with all local, national, and international laws and regulations affecting its operations. Stay updated with legal changes and advise on legal risks.
Contract Management: Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of contracts and agreements with stakeholders, partners, suppliers, and clients to safeguard the management’s interests.
Litigation Management: Manage all litigation and dispute resolution processes efficiently to minimize risk and exposure.
Corporate Governance: Enhance and maintain robust governance practices; advise the board and senior management on governance matters.
Intellectual Property: Oversee the management and protection of the management company’s intellectual property, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
Risk Management: Identify legal risks and provide proactive, creative solutions to mitigate these risks.
Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the key point of contact for all legal matters with external parties, including regulators and external counsel.
Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the in-house legal team and the key legal team members of the portfolio companies, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Bachelor’s degree in Law. A Master’s degree or further professional qualifications, such as LLM or similar is preferred.
At least 10 years of legal experience with substantial senior legal management experience, preferably in the financial services or capital management sector.
Deep understanding of the legal landscape as it pertains to financial services, strong negotiation skills, and experience in managing a variety of legal issues.
Demonstrated ability to lead a legal department and develop teams, coupled with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent analytical and strategic problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges and providing effective legal solutions.
Possess high ethical standards and the ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion.
Capable of adapting to the changing needs of a dynamic business environment.
Ability to anticipate legal issues and future challenges, providing strategic legal guidance.
Willingness to travel and the ability to manage high-priority issues as they arise.
Fluency in Ukrainian/Russian and English, both written and verbal.
