Head of Learning and Organisational Development

The General Dental Council (GDC) is recruiting for a Head of Learning and Organisational Development to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is Hybrid – minimum 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home. In return you will receive a competitive salary of £57,347 - £67,466 per annum.

Our primary purpose is to protect patient safety and maintain public confidence in dental services. To achieve this, we register qualified dental professionals, set standards for the dental team, investigate complaints about dental professionals' fitness to practise, and work to ensure the quality of dental education.

About the role of Head of Learning and Organisational Development:
The General Dental Council is undergoing an exciting period of organisational transformation with a raft of change and improvements projects underway. To continue and embed these improvements we are recruiting a Head of Learning and Organisational Development to be based in our Birmingham office.


Reporting into the Director of People and Organisational Development, you will lead a team of three with a remit to develop the Learning & OD strategy, incorporating employee wellbeing and engagement, create and develop solutions and engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders throughout the GDC.


Responsibilities:

  1. Developing and implementing an L&OD and Wellbeing plan that recognises and enables high performing colleagues and teams and supports the delivery of the GDC Strategy.
  2. Identifying, designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating organisational development solutions which deliver a culture of engagement, learning, inclusion, and wellbeing to build a high performing and engaged workforce.
  3. Leading and managing the OD and Wellbeing team, ensuring there are clear team and individual objectives in place to deliver engagement, performance, and well-being.
  4. Managing all related budgets and ensuring all GDC financial and procurement procedures are followed.

About you:
You will have extensive experience in the following areas:

  1. Designing and implementing People/Learning/OD strategies, and operational/delivery plans in support of change, improving culture and business performance.
  2. Leading and managing an L&D/OD team developing aligned interventions in learning and development, employee engagement, performance, culture change, wellbeing, and ED&I.
  3. Up to date knowledge of current learning, OD and wellbeing trends, initiatives and practices.
  4. Engaging, influencing, and facilitating relationships between different directorates, functions, employee forums and networks. As well as dealing with management, colleagues, and external agencies at all levels.
  5. Managing employee engagement surveys and supporting the Leadership Community on the development of the subsequent action plans to guide OD improvements.
  6. MCIPD or equivalent.
