We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Learning and Development to join us in leading the development and delivery of Capital One’s UK learning strategy. Reporting to the Head of Talent Experience and in partnership with your team, you will be accountable for end-to-end programs and practices from Early Careers, experienced professionals and Leaders for all lines of business. This includes marketing our experience brand, building strong external partnerships, designing leading learning programs to grow and develop the best talent.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and implement learning programs that build employee capabilities in alignment with business outcomes, positioning them to succeed in their current jobs and develop skills to sustainably serve our future growth.
  • Serve as a strategic partner in how to apply learning and development solutions to business needs: partner closely with Business Leaders, Human Resources and wider Enterprise Learning & Development Team to develop and or deploy innovative learning solutions.
  • Foster a growth mindset operationalizing programs that optimize learning paths for employees to easily navigate their development in distinct career tracks, including new hires, people leaders and key job families.
  • Identify and adopt or develop transformative learning methods that are easily accessible, personalized, digitized and automated for the best employee learning experience, produce measurable impact and support the growth of Capital One's talent pipeline.
  • Provide both strategic and operational support for the design and delivery of innovative development programs.
  • Evaluate, manage and deploy learning investments in third party tools and partnerships when appropriate, including budget, vendor, and partner management.
  • Develop evaluation and assessment tools to measure impact and return on investment on Learning and Development initiatives.
  • Leverage analytics to measure the impact of investments in learning and development to the overall talent and business strategy.
  • Manage and motivate a team of learning professionals with a clear vision that inspires high performance.
  • Foster associate engagement from day one by creating the best learning and development experiences, so new associates can reach their full potential, faster.

What we’re looking for:

  • Subject Matter expert:
    • Experienced leading a Learning function in a faced paced environment, (knowledge of technology organizations preferred).
    • Proven track record building a learning and development strategy, ensuring training needs of the business are evaluated and appropriate development methods are selected based on relevant best practices and external trends.
  • Change agent:
    • Influential partner who leads with data informed solutions to obtain buy-in from multiple stakeholders to influence the desired culture, behaviors and skills.
  • Strategic orientation with proven ability to set a vision, chart a path and execute with high impact.
  • Proven and respected team leader:
    • Track record for coaching to high results.
    • Excellent communicator across multiple level stakeholders (team, employees, managers, people leaders, executive team).
    • Leverages a strong customer orientation for building relationships across and within HR broadly, and in the lines of business.
    • Has a strong bias for optimization and driving continuous improvement.

Where and how you'll work

This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham office.

We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home.

We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in our Nottingham office 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
