Head of Investment Operations: Boutique Wealth Management Asset Management company

Martis Search are representing a London-based boutique Asset Management company to hire a permanent “Head of Investment Operations.”

This is one of the best and most exciting senior Buyside Head of Operations roles this year.

The role requires someone with extensive Wealth Management/Asset Management Operations experience as a “Head of Operations” from a reputable company with between $2 bn AUM - $15 bn AUM.

The chosen incumbent needs strong working knowledge of Equities, Fixed Income, Fund-of-Funds, and Private Equity (must have strong Securities, Funds, and Private Equity Operational knowledge).

This is an amazing opportunity to join a growing boutique Asset Manager and to really make your mark on the business. The role reports to the CEO, and the company boasts a multi-billion $ AUM. The business is growing with new clients coming onboard and new market/investment ideas being generated.

The role involves managing an existing Investment Operations team and requires a strategic Head of Operations. You will be expected to lead, manage, and coordinate all Operational infrastructure within the team, the wider business, and external systems and service providers in all aspects of investment activity and client interaction.

The client base is a mix of global “Ultra-High-Networth” individuals and families. Our client expects someone to have strong Asset Management Operations experience (as a Head of Operations).

This is a strategic and senior Head of Operations role with significant change needed, such as new product/fund launches, choosing new systems suppliers and Custodians/administrators/3rd party suppliers, implementing a new OMS/PMS from its inception, as well as creating new “Client Operations” departments in 2025.

The role is hybrid and encompasses extensive senior Operations experience across a wide range of different investment asset classes, fund types, and working with multiple Custodians. You will be expected to redesign a lot of their Operational infrastructure and be the most senior leader in the business relating to anything within Operations. There is no current COO, but a straight line into the CEO, and you will be working with their Executive team (which you will be part of), i.e., Head of Compliance, CFO, etc.

As a senior Operations Director, the role responsibilities will cover global clients trading in global markets. Although there is a separate Head of Compliance, at this level, you still need to understand the ramifications of external Compliance that affect the Operations department, such as MiFID II, EMIR Trade & Transaction Regulatory Reporting. In addition, having experience with UCITS and SICAV Fund entity types is also mandatory.

Salary

Between £130 k pa - £200 k pa dependent upon experience, plus bonus, pension, healthcare, etc.
