The Head of Human Resources (HR) is a key executive leadership role, pivotal in shaping the company’s culture and overseeing all aspects of HR. The Head of HR will be responsible for championing AG’s Values and Culture, developing and delivering a Talent Strategy, managing recruitment and ensuring compliance with employment law and regulations. They will drive initiatives that foster a high-performance culture, attract and retain top talent, and support the company’s long-term growth objectives.

About The Role

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Act as an advocate for AG’s culture and values by demonstrating integrity, sustainability, customer care, wellbeing, and innovation in all aspects of your work and interactions with colleagues.
  2. Lead and manage the HR department.
  3. Act as a key member of the company’s executive leadership team, contributing to achieving its long-term goals and advising each member on how to create a high-performance culture within their individual departments.
  4. Develop and implement HR strategies that support the company’s goals and objectives.
  5. Act as a champion for AG’s Company Values and assist all managers and leaders in embedding the right behaviours, at all levels of the organisation.
  6. Lead efforts to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction and retention.
  7. Develop a Talent Strategy to attract the best people into the business, build the right capability for the future and create the right environment for colleagues to thrive.
  8. Oversee the recruitment and onboarding processes.
  9. Implement appropriate performance appraisal systems and ensure regular feedback and development plans for employees.
  10. Establish leadership development initiatives to nurture future leaders within AG.
  11. Promote a culture of continuous learning and ensure employees have access to the training and tools they need to succeed.
  12. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment where diversity and inclusion are valued.
  13. Develop and update HR policies and procedures to reflect best practices and legal requirements.
  14. Track and analyse key HR metrics/KPIs (such as turnover rates, employee satisfaction, attrition, etc) to inform decision making and assist delivery of company objectives.
  15. Work with trade union officials, employees and managers to encourage positive employee relations.
  16. Ensure compliance with all employment legislation and completion of any statutory returns.
  17. Maintain and protect confidentiality of information at all times.
  18. Adhere to all Company Health and Safety policies at all times, wearing the correct PPE while working in the plant and yard, and taking responsibility for personal safety and that of colleagues.
  19. Any other duties commensurate with the role and within capabilities as required by the Directors.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

The above list is not exhaustive but aims to provide a broad range of key accountabilities and duties of the post. The role may involve additional tasks as directed by supervisors or managers, commensurate with the position.

Required Criteria

  • CIPD membership
  • Sound knowledge of employment law and Codes of Practice in NI and GB
  • 8+ years HR Generalist experience, 5 of which at HR Business Partner / Manager level
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing industry
  • Previous experience of delivery of strategic HR projects
  • Experience with HR information systems
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to plan and effectively prioritise work schedules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and confidentiality
  • Proactive, Friendly and Approachable
  • Access to travel to and from work and between sites
  • Flexible to work overtime to meet the needs of the business
