Head of Health and Safety
Role Responsibility

We are committed to creating a safe and healthy environment for all our employees and customers. We are looking for an exceptional individual to lead Health and Safety for KCC who will play a pivotal role in determining organisational priorities to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our employees and customers across a diverse range of services and environments.

As the Head of Health and Safety, you will report to the Director of HR&OD and will be responsible for providing strategic advice and direction on all matters relating to health & safety. You will ensure organisational compliance with all relevant regulations and standards and foster a positive culture of safety throughout the organisation.

You will need to have a thorough knowledge of H&S and risk management, hold a relevant H&S qualification (NEBOSH Diploma, CMIOSH or equivalent) and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the issues facing large, complex organisations to ensure the effective management of quality standards, health and safety, and risk management at all levels. You will also need to demonstrate the experience and ability to lead and manage the service and its professional advisers. Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Leading the H&S agenda for KCC identifying the H&S implications of legislative changes and best practice.
  2. Provision of expert advice on complex technical matters and developing innovative and effective outcome-focused solutions in response to new and emerging health and safety issues.
  3. Leading a talented team of Health and Safety Professionals, to deliver our ambitious health and safety agenda to ensure organisation compliance with H&S.
