The Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP) are looking for a Head of Fundraising to join our Fundraising team. The role will be reporting to the Executive Director.

Location: E2, near Bethnal Green (London). Hybrid, minimum 3 days in the office.

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum + company benefits depending on experience. Permanent contract.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (full-time), Monday to Friday.

The role

To further our aims ETP is seeking to identify a Head of Fundraising to lead the build out and enhance the development of our membership and third-party fundraising activities. This London based role will strengthen and optimise one of the critical pillars of ETP's strategy, by building strategic relationships with those institutions aligned to solve the same persistent issues that dog agricultural supply chains. We at ETP focus on programmatic work that delivers a set of interventions, that in combination, will address the causes that we champion - namely, the reduction of poverty, arresting deforestation, promoting access to services and lastly but crucially addressing Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD) in the tea supply chain. As a membership-based institution ETP has strong and growing partnerships with our members and other key stakeholders along the supply chain.

The successful candidate will have diverse combination of responsibilities: strengthening our fundraising and its roll out to ensure we create long lasting and strategic relationships that deliver on our agreed objectives; responding to member companies' requests and proposals; institutionalising a partnership orientated fundraising approach; building and leading a small focussed team; nurturing a culture of monitoring, evaluation, learning and impact. As part of the ETP Leadership Team (LT) the post holder oversees all key institutional partnerships and will also contribute to programmatic output with the Head of Programmes. The Head of Fundraising acts as a key resource to the Board of Directors and will assist in the long term objective of increasing the ETP membership numbers.

The individual will also play a leading role in setting the culture of the organisation and modelling ETP's values. ETP aims to be a positive, driven, open-minded, intellectually curious, and collaborative organisation but one that is not satisfied with the status quo. With a shared responsibility for ETP's organisational capability, this role ensures that ETP continues to evolve according to its strategic direction and intent.

Responsibilities

Fundraising planning, implementation, evaluation and delivery

1. Lead the definition of the overall fundraising strategy.
2. Manage relationships with a myriad of programme funding stakeholders, including private sector partners, NGOs and government.
3. Write and develop a detailed fundraising strategy plan for ETP and have ambitious targets for levels of financing raised.
4. Support the M&E Lead to deliver highly effective impact reports to our core funders.
5. In collaboration with Finance, be responsible for fundraising budgets, validation and controls and reviewing and approving donor reporting.
6. Provide access to relevant fundraising successes to enable the Communications team to create content that demonstrates the impact of ETP's work.
7. Contribute to wider organisational activities, such as developing policy statements, identifying innovative fundraising business models, shared learning objectives, design and delivery of large meetings and events.
8. Organisational shared learning. The Head of Fundraising will lead on the global calls and sharing outcomes from fundraising across the organisation. This is co-lead with Head of Communications.

Proposal development / funding diversification

1. In collaboration with the Head of Communications and Programmes and country teams, assess and review funding opportunities on a quarterly basis.

Required skills

Essential:

1. Have the right to work in the UK and reside within a commutable distance to our London office in Bethnal Green. Minimum of 10-year experience in fundraising with direct evidence of funds raised.
2. Experience on working on raising funds, preferentially for agricultural supply chain programmes.
3. Proven experience of delivering strategic leadership with a management team.
4. Knowledge of human rights-based approach to impact delivery (and in a supply chain setting would be an advantage).
5. Knowledge of corporate social and environmental sustainability, understanding of the concept of Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence, and understanding of certification schemes such as Rainforest Alliance, and Fairtrade.
6. Clear ability to segment the large funding landscape into the various component parts.
7. Demonstrate key funding relationships.
8. Experienced senior manager - building, developing, and motivating diverse and high performing teams.
9. Track record of building relationships, and partnering with a wide range of organisations, including with institutional donors, private institutional sector and Trusts and Foundations.
10. Experience working on global projects and with people from different backgrounds and cultures and prepared to travel overseas.
11. Open communication style - proactively contributing to ETP's progress.
12. Flexibility and adaptability.
13. A belief in the power of business to create positive change.
14. A coaching and mentoring approach. Able to challenge in a supportive way, helping others to learn and manage partnerships without tension.
15. Works collaboratively, creating buy-in through influence and persuasion.
16. Solutions and action-oriented; able to prioritise and focus on results without getting distracted. Sees work through to completion.
17. Self-organised and able to juggle strategic priorities with administrative tasks.
18. Strategic planning and operationalisation of strategic plans.
19. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, open to coaching and collaborative teamwork.

Desirable:

1. A university degree in a related field and/or Masters.
2. Proficiency in additional languages, such as German or Arabic, considered an asset.
