Job description

Excellent Head of Finance opportunity with one of the North West's most established and high regarded further education institutes. Working in a highly collaborative team and reporting directly to the Principal, your remit will include:

  • Providing effective management and leadership for the Finance Team - spanning financial analysis, management accounts, financial accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking and general ledger.
  • Maintaining relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Supporting budget holders with their budgetary control.
  • Producing and presenting user-friendly financial reports tailored to meet the needs of budget holders and management.
  • Advising senior leaders on key financial matters.
  • Ongoing development of financial policies and procedures.
  • Leading the budget-setting and financial forecasting processes.
  • Monitoring spend against budget and supporting informed strategic decisions.
  • Supporting year-end accounting and audit processes - complying with the FE/HE SORP.
  • Timely and efficient preparation and submission of financial returns to the regulatory bodies.
  • Ensuring any tax obligations are discharged correctly and effectively.

Applicants will be ACCA/ACA/CIPFA or CIMA professionals with prior experience in a similar profile senior finance role. Education sector experience is desirable but not essential. Remuneration includes £62,704 to £66,906 salary, an excellent pension 8.5%:16.9% Employee: Employer contribution, 30+ days holiday, 37 hr week, Flexitime and a degree of hybrid working.
