The Role - Head of English Department

We are looking to appoint a Head of English Department to start immediately after the Easter holidays. This is a full-time position, and you will be paid in line with the Outer London Teachers Pay Scale, with a TLR 1A allowance of £9,782. Our current Head of English Department is relocating, and we are keen to find a strong leader who can continue to build on their success.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage the English Department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across KS3 and KS4
2. Inspire students and staff with a love for English and, ideally, Media
3. Oversee curriculum development and assessment strategies to enhance student progress
4. Support and develop teachers within the English Department in Dagenham, fostering a culture of continuous professional growth
5. Set high expectations for student achievement and behaviour, in line with our vision for excellence in all that we do

1. An experienced English Teacher with a track record of excellent classroom practice
2. Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop a team
3. A passion for English and, ideally, experience in teaching Media
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
