Head of E-Commerce

Location: Manchester, UK

We are seeking a talented and experienced Head of E-Commerce to lead our online retail operations and marketplace strategies. As a senior leader within the business, you will be responsible for driving e-commerce growth, optimising marketplace performance, and delivering an outstanding customer experience. With a proven track record in e-commerce management, you will spearhead initiatives to ensure the continued success and profitability of our online channels.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement an innovative e-commerce strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives and growth targets. Identify emerging trends and opportunities to enhance our digital presence and performance.
  2. Operational Excellence: Oversee the daily operations of all e-commerce platforms, ensuring smooth functionality and an optimised user experience. Coordinate production and marketing calendars to meet commercial goals and deadlines.
  3. Marketplace Management: Manage listings on platforms such as Amazon, eBay, and other online marketplaces, ensuring compliance and maximising sales. Optimise product visibility and marketplace performance to drive revenue.
  4. Team and Agency Collaboration: Manage relationships with external marketing agencies, setting clear expectations and reviewing performance regularly. Lead internal teams by providing clear direction, fostering collaboration, and ensuring alignment with business goals.
  5. Customer Experience: Monitor and respond to customer reviews and enquiries across all channels, maintaining a positive brand reputation. Identify and implement strategies to improve conversion rates and customer satisfaction.
  6. Data-Driven Insights: Use analytics tools to monitor website performance, campaign effectiveness, and customer behaviour, making informed decisions to drive growth. Prepare and present performance reports to senior management, offering actionable recommendations.
  7. Inventory and Logistics Coordination: Work closely with supply chain teams to ensure efficient stock management and timely delivery of customer orders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in a senior e-commerce or marketplace management role.
  • Proven success in driving revenue growth and meeting sales targets.
  • Advanced knowledge of e-commerce platforms, CMS systems, and analytics tools.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Familiarity with UK e-commerce regulations and consumer laws (preferred).
  • Experience in the DIY or building materials sector is advantageous but not essential.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK (sponsorship is not available).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £50,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
