Head of Discipline - Systems Engineering
Crawley (hybrid)
Flight Avionics (FLX) are at the forefront of Global Avionics Solutions, and they have a fantastic opportunity to join as a Head of Discipline Systems Engineering based in our Crawley office.
The scope of Engineering activities covers end-to-end Communications systems that include airborne and ground aspects, military tactical and mission management systems, and military communication systems.
The Head of Discipline Systems Engineering provides technical leadership to incorporate best practices on systems engineering, product certification, Safety, Configuration, and engineering governance.
This is a key role in overseeing, defining, and executing with key stakeholders, the domain systems capability strategy, ensuring the overall adequacy of System Engineering capability for allocation on projects, bids, and research and development to match operational delivery requirements validating coherence with discipline/cost centre financial budgeting defined.
Reporting into the Head of Engineering, in addition, the role has a matrix reporting line to the UK Systems Discipline & Capability Director.
You will have a strong focus on delivering customer excellence whilst managing the Systems Engineering Discipline, continuing to support their growth in terms of skills, competencies & career progression.

This role will require SC Clearance. It would be advantageous if currently held; however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant will undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance. Please visit the UKSV website for further guidance.
To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
