An exciting development opportunity has arisen for the role of Head of Digitised Health Records Services. This is a wide-ranging role, reporting to the Chief Information Officer and working as a member of the Digital Data & Intelligence Senior Management Team. This is an excellent opportunity to lead and contribute to the strategic development of this service and support the Health Board’s transformation plans.
You will be responsible for the overall operational and strategic management and performance of all aspects of Health Records Management.
Applicants must demonstrate significant experience and knowledge regarding Digitised Health Records, skills in staff management & development, financial management, plus experience of developing and implementing strategic change. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential.
ABUHB is developing a Digital Strategy. Health Records is pivotal to supporting the delivery of transformational change. Services are continually evolving as technology develops and new pathways emerge. The post holder will need to be agile and dynamic in managing change while maintaining a patient-centred focus.
You should be qualified to master’s degree level and hold the Certificate of the Institute of Health Records and Information Management (IHRIM), working towards the postgraduate Diploma or equivalent qualifications in a managerial discipline and relevant demonstrable management experience working at a senior level within the NHS.

Key leadership skills and expertise are required for this role to ensure that the services provided through this centralised service are delivered effectively and efficiently in line with performance targets and strategic objectives. This is a specialist environment, and the role of the postholder will have an impact on services that directly support patient care, their continuity and delivery.
The Health Records service must be sustained and maintained while the strategic direction and move towards the Electronic Health and Care Record agenda is agreed. The Head of DHR is responsible for the leadership, management, and planning of the multiple teams that make up the overarching service.
The postholder will support the Chief Information Officer in leading the development of these services so that they strategically and operationally support the clinical and business objectives by providing innovative, pro-active advice and support on service strategies and approaches.
The postholder will ensure documented arrangements are in place for all aspects of the services which are an integral part of everyday work for all staff and that staff are responsible at an individual level. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that these key services continue to work effectively and ensure continued achievement of national and local key performance indicators.
