Head of Digital and Computing

Ron Dearing University Technical College (RDUTC) seeks an inspirational and skilled Head of Department to lead our Digital & Computing pathway in our state-of-the-art school.

Job Description

1. Lead the design and development of an outstanding and innovative Digital & Computing curriculum.
2. Lead self-evaluation within the Digital & Computing Department.
3. Lead the development and implementation of the Digital & Computing Department Improvement Plan.
4. Maintain and develop effective team working practices within the Digital & Computing department.
5. Lead teaching and learning within the Digital & Computing Department, including co-ordinating staff appraisal and quality assurance of teaching and learning.
6. Teach Digital & Computing to Key Stage 4 and 5 students (Level 2 OCR Cambridge National IT and/or Level 2 BTEC Digital Information Technology and/or Level 3 BTEC Pearson AAQs and/or Level 3 OCR Cambridge AAQs and/or T-Level in Digital Production and/or GCSE Computer Science).
7. Promote and model inspirational teaching and learning within your own teaching.
8. Lead the implementation of the Target-setting and Assessment policy within the Digital & Computing Department.
9. Monitor students’ progress towards targets, identifying those who are underachieving and implementing effective intervention strategies to address the underachievement within the Digital & Computing department.
10. Lead the implementation of the Professional Values and Behaviours policy within the Digital & Computing Department.
11. Manage student welfare, child protection and anti-bullying procedures effectively within the Digital & Computing Department.
12. Manage the Digital & Computing departmental budget and resources effectively to maximise impact on teaching and learning and provide value for money.
13. Ensure that the allocation and use of accommodation within the Digital & Computing department provides a positive and safe learning environment that promotes the highest achievement for all.
