Head of Design

Saltrock Head Office
England
GBP 60,000 - 80,000
Job description

Does
working for a Brand like ours excite you? If so, becoming part of the Saltrock
family and being based in North Devon could be part of your next
adventure.

For
over 30 years, Saltrock, a British coastal lifestyle brand, has had holiday,
family, spirit, and fun at its heart. Our inspiration flows from land and sea,
waves and coastline. Designed in the South West since 1988, we have grown into a
loved Devon brand known for its iconic print designs.

The Head of Design plays a crucial role in Saltrock's
Product strategy, driving the success of all categories through effective trend
building, strategic planning, and range building.

As a hands-on Head of Design, you'll lead and grow a team
of talented Designers. You will lead the product strategy for all categories and
work collaboratively with all departments to deliver a commercial and trend-led
range that is loved by our Saltrock customer.

You will be collaborative, organised, and strategic. Contribute to design
direction and ensure that product design is aligned to the strategic vision.

What you will bring on the journey...

  1. Work collaboratively with colleagues across Buying, Merchandising, and Brand
Marketing to create seasonal ranges, collectively carving out the concept and
direction of each season for all categories.
  2. Set the departmental critical path, not only
understanding the impact for Design but cross-functionally with other internal
    stakeholders (Buying, Merchandising, and Marketing).
  3. Ensure that the design team is aligned with the business
goals and the product design direction is consistent with Saltrock's brand
    identity, values, and target audience.
  4. Oversee range development, ensuring that the product reflects the Brand &
Product strategy, the range is without gaps or duplication, and that the season
is logically and commercially thought through.
  5. Ability to trade in season, executing smaller collections
    to be reactive.
  6. Identify new product opportunities as they emerge in
the market and action those in the range in a commercial manner.
  7. Manage the process of creating a balanced range, developing key seasonal shapes
and trends while keeping our customer at the forefront of your mind.
  8. Collaborate across departments and functions of the business including Creative
and Marketing to ensure the design vision is communicated clearly.
  9. Shape and drive lean, agile processes within the
    Design process.
  10. Have a strong understanding of our competitors' product offer
to pivot team activity and manage risks, as required.
  11. Provide clear direction and development to the team, identifying individual
training needs and encouraging collaborative ways of working.
  12. Motivate and engage the team through recognition and
    regular feedback.
