Location: This role could be based in either our London, Birmingham or Edinburgh offices with time spent working in the office and at home.

Salary and benefits: Up to £170,000 dependant upon experience, plus bonus potential, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

What are we looking for?

An experienced professional to lead the Compliance Guidance & Business Oversight Team, promoting informed decision making and controlled risk-taking that improves customer outcomes and ensures compliance with all relevant regulations. The role is expected to be the formal successor to the Group Chief Compliance Officer (SMF16) and will therefore act as their deputy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ability to understand/interpret the regulatory requirements to new or ongoing business situations. This involves knowledge of the relevant legislation and regulations, and navigation of the same.
  • Ability to motivate, direct and develop staff at different levels across multi sites, to work individually as well as in a team environment.
  • Sound judgement and ability to know when to escalate and when to seek internal or external assistance.
  • Strong management, leadership, team-building skills and the ability to communicate compliance issues in a non-technical way to the senior teams and other employees.
  • Effective communication and report writing skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the UK financial services and regulatory framework, including understanding the FCA, PRA & CBoI approach to regulation.
  • Extensive & in-depth knowledge and awareness of the requirements of the regulatory rules and guidance, insurance company products, and associated guidance, product administration processes.
  • Significant knowledge of business systems including outsourced arrangements, new business propositions and mastery of best practice procedures and standards for regulatory compliance for the Group.
  • Strong record of Line 2 experience.
  • Experience within Life and Pensions and retail distribution in financial services.
  • Broader Risk experience and SMF role holder or established successor.
