What you'll do:

  • Reporting to the Business Development Director, you will be responsible for leading & managing bids and tender submissions for the Transport business.
  • Managing and leading a Bid Team based in both Warwick and London you will plan the necessary resources to bid for opportunities as agreed with the Business Development Director.
  • You will have full responsibility for ensuring that resources are utilised effectively & efficiently across the business to maximise opportunities the business decides to pursue.
  • You will be accountable for ensuring the end-to-end management & production of timely, high quality, and ultimately successful Bids in keeping with telent's bid procedures.
  • You will seek to constantly improve the quality of bids, ensuring that best practice approaches to developing and producing bids are always pursued.
  • You will continually monitor the costs being incurred by the business throughout the Bid process and will seek an ongoing improvement in telent's "return on bid investment".
  • Developing relationships with existing and potential customers including site-based meetings and presentations.
  • Accountability for Bid team performance, KPIs, and SLAs.
  • The end-to-end management & production of timely, high quality, and ultimately successful bids in keeping with telent's bid procedures. This will include:
    • leading and developing Bid winning strategies in partnership with the opportunity owner
    • producing material from Go/No Go stage through to deal review, Bid submission
    • post Bid submission support including preparation and preparation of Bid proposals
  • Bid Team workload planning, bid forecasting, cost and win/loss tracking & reporting.
  • Bid reviews - won & lost - including recommendations for improvement.
  • telent's Bid wiki (Bid library) is updated and maintained.
Who you are:

Key requirements:
  • Extensive experience of managing and leading a high performing and efficient Bid Team, driving efficiencies, reviews and continual improvement ultimately leading to an improved Bid / Success conversation rate.
  • Experience of leading and producing winning bids to the Public Sector in an environment such as Traffic, Rail, Intelligent Transport System, Defence and Emergency Services markets.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Financially astute with ability to create & interpret financial reports and models.
  • Broad understanding of Traffic, Rail, Telecommunications and IT products, technologies and services, including the operational, commercial and financial aspects.
  • APMP or equivalent qualification with demonstrable Bid wins and best practice.
  • A proven ability to write and 'Red Review' answers to tender questions to a winning standard.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • ITT Quality response writing skills.
  • ITT Cost response financial skills.
  • Senior leadership skills, with demonstrable experience of building a winning and high performing bid team.
  • Proven experience of leading & delivering high and medium-value bids, ideally in a services or solutions environment.
  • Demonstrable intellectual capacity to develop and deliver simple solutions to complex challenges.
  • Ability to present, persuade and influence at all levels via strong interpersonal communications skills.
  • Experience of identifying Customer's business problems and developing commercial proposition to meet the requirement.
  • Senior leadership skills with demonstrable experience of building a winning and high performing Bid Team.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels of an organisation.
  • A winning and 'can do' attitude that is undented by any failures.
  • A strong and natural mindset of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently whilst retaining a team-based approach and maintaining strong personal relationships.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Strong sense of pride in and quality of personal and business outputs.
