About your team
The Global Security Engineering Team delivers a range of security functionality currently built upon our core access control system, Lenel. This team consists of six members located in China, India, and the UK.
About your role
Your role will be essential in the design and delivery of our future integrated building services. You will work with Corporate Property Services (CPS) teams, internal technology teams, and our vendors to deliver an integrated building services and security solution.
You will develop and evolve an integrated building systems solution that allows CPS to automate and digitize our services, secure our premises, and improve employee experience. You will have responsibility to change the business through innovation while maintaining our business-as-usual activities, ensuring cost efficiency and vendor management.
You will report to the Director of Workplace Change and work closely with CPS senior leadership, notably the Directors of Global Security and the Head of Engineering to deliver an integrated building service.
You will have accountability to the Director of Global Security for the delivery and performance of our security engineering, managing our delivery vendor, overseeing the delivery, budget, forecasting, and upgrading our security infrastructure to required standards.
You will play a pivotal role in driving the development of innovative solutions to meet current and future security, smart building, and data governance needs. You will need to be a critical thinker and initiate process redesign, ensuring data quality, accessibility, security, and usability.
Job Objectives
Process Design & Improvement
- Design and implement processes and workflows that enhance the automation of CPS deliverables.
- Continuously evaluate and improve existing security processes to adapt to evolving threats and technological advancements.
- Utilise critical thinking skills to troubleshoot issues and develop effective solutions.
Security
- Develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy that aligns with organisational goals and smart building initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with operational security managers and the global security team who rely upon security technology.
- Capture evolving customer requirements and ensure these are incorporated into the security technology stack in a timely fashion.
- Oversee the migration of FIL’s global access control and CCTV platform to Genetec.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of technological developments within the security industry.
- Collaborate with leadership to define the vision and roadmap for security systems, data governance, and integration.
- Ensure robust delivery of performance and commercial management through SLAs and KPIs.
- Align BAU global security engineering capability with FIL’s information and cyber security standards.
Building Services Integration
- Develop and execute a roadmap for transitioning traditional building services (e.g., HVAC, lighting) to smart building solutions.
- Oversee the design and integration of IoT-enabled systems for real-time monitoring, analytics, and automation of building services.
- Act as the primary technical liaison with system integrators, contractors, and technology providers for building services.
- Identify opportunities for energy optimisation and carbon footprint reduction through intelligent building systems.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders to communicate the wider security contribution to CPS services and data governance.
- Provide training and support to teams on best practices in data management and security protocols.
- Foster relationships with external partners and vendors to stay updated on industry trends and technologies.
Data Governance
- Establish and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, quality, and accessibility.
- Monitor compliance with data governance standards and regulations, addressing any issues proactively.
- Work closely with other data owners, data stewards, and stakeholders to define data management practices and standards.

- Understanding of data governance, platform integration, and preferably smart building technologies.
- Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, security protocols, and compliance standards.
- Experience with data quality management, data accessibility, and integration methodologies.

Networking and Collaboration
- Construct a network of key stakeholders representing security technology customers and owners of associated technology within CPS, as well as FIL’s Technology and Finance departments.
- Seek opportunities for collaboration and innovation that improve functionality and cost efficiency for FIL.
- Take responsibility for the role of security engineering in any technology program work, ensuring proactive and energetic delivery of objectives.
Experience
- Proven experience in managing technical delivery projects, specifically in building services, controls, and security system integration.
- Strong background in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
Technical Knowledge
- In-depth understanding of building services or security systems.
- Familiarity with system integration techniques and protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus, IP networking).
Project Management Skills
- Experience in planning, executing, and delivering projects.
- Ability to manage project scope, resources, and stakeholder expectations effectively.
Leadership and Team Management
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage cross-functional teams.
- Experience in mentoring and developing technical staff.

Certifications
- Relevant certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), PRINCE2, or technical certifications related to building services and security systems are advantageous.
