Job description

Water Meadow surgery are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic HCA to join our thriving practice located in the leafy Chiltern Hills, based in Chesham. The town is served by a London underground station on the Metropolitan Line connecting directly with London. We score highly in patients polls as one of the top practices in Bucks.

Main duties of the job

The role will involve the usual mix of HCA duties, working alongside 6 Partners, 7 Salaried GP's, 3 nurses and 1 nurse associate and other Health Practitioners.

The patients' practice list has grown steadily over the last few years to just over 13,500. The practice population includes a mix of social classes with a few pockets of deprivation. The practice is part of the Chesham & Little Chalfont PCN.

Job responsibilities

The job will involve the usual mix of HCA duties, but we are particularly interested in individuals who are keen to develop (or already have) interests and skills in chronic disease management for patients with long-term conditions.

Duties include:

  1. Diabetic checks
  2. Taking blood samples
  3. Blood pressure
  4. ECG recording
  5. Removal of stitches/staples
  6. Urinalysis
  7. Ordering vaccines and clinical supplies
  8. Restocking supplies to the doctors and nurses rooms
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Able to communicate both in written and oral
  • Experience in health care setting
  • NVQ certificate
  • Previous experience working in the NHS
