At Vodafone, we’re not just shaping the future of connectivity for our customers – we’re shaping the future for everyone who joins our team. When you work with us, you’re part of a global mission to connect people, solve complex challenges, and create a sustainable and more inclusive world. If you want to grow your career whilst finding the perfect balance between work and life, Vodafone offers the opportunities to help you belong and make a real impact.
What you’ll doJoin our dynamic Group Tax Reporting (‘GTR’) team, where you will play a pivotal role in delivering the annual cycle of external and internal tax reporting. This includes half-year and year-end external financial reporting, effective tax rate (‘ETR’) and cash-tax forecasting. Additionally, you will be responsible for the group’s annual Country by Country Reporting (‘CbCR’) and Global minimum tax compliance (‘Pillar Two’), as well as producing Vodafone’s Total Economic Contribution reports.
As the Group Tax Reporting Senior Manager, you will lead and take ownership of significant portions of the half-year and year-end group tax reporting. This includes designing, improving, and operating SOX controls. You will also lead the preparation and delivery of internal tax forecasting, CbCR, and Pillar Two compliance. Your strong working knowledge will make you the primary contact for tax accounting, particularly in deferred tax asset recognition and assessing uncertain tax positions.
Your expertise in using tax and/or finance reporting systems, especially Longview, will be highly valued. As a ‘tax’ business partner, you will cultivate strong working relationships with tax and other colleagues across the Group, building and maintaining a good working knowledge of the profile of the respective businesses and local tax rules. This will enable you to support and critically challenge local reporting to the group.
You should be highly organized, able to lead independently, and capable of delivering reporting and compliance processes through the team to a high standard within deadlines. Effective communication with a diverse range of stakeholders is essential, and you should be able to deputize for the Head of GTR & Technology when needed. Regular interaction with Vodafone’s core financial and tax systems HFM and Longview is expected, so experience with these systems is highly desirable. High proficiency in Excel is required.
A ‘change’ and ‘solution-focused’ mindset is crucial to support the team in the continuous incremental development of our processes, systems, and controls. Relevant tax reporting experience is important, as is the ability to influence stakeholders across the business, raise issues with confidence, find solutions, and get things done. Strong interpersonal skills and a desire for career progression in this dynamic and fast-moving tax department are vital for this candidate.
You will lead significant aspects of the preparation of the group’s ETR calculations, deferred tax calculations, and disclosures. This includes in-year and future year ETR and cash-tax forecasting and scenario planning. You will operate evidence-led tax SOX controls and manage statutory audit compliance. Additionally, you will handle Pillar 2 Global minimum tax compliance and the group’s external Total Economic Contribution report. Partnering with operating companies, critically challenging submissions, and applying KPIs to reporting compliance are also part of your responsibilities. You will collate and review the group’s tax risks and support the maintenance and improvement of the systems that support the tax reporting processes and controls.
