Group Sales Director role for a leading building products manufacturing group.

About Our Client

A high-profile Group Sales Director role has become available due to the forthcoming retirement of the current Director who has been in the company for over 30 years.

This unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sales Director to lead the sales teams across multiple divisions which accounts for more than £300M t/o supplying product solutions directly into house builders, housing associations, contractors, and via merchants and retailers.

The business is a large manufacturing group but with the mentality and friendliness of a smaller family-owned company.

They pride themselves on delivering quality products with excellent service levels.

The group also has a very loyal employee base with over 60% of their employees having worked within the business for over 10 years.

We are looking for a candidate who has proven sales and commercial leadership capabilities in a high-quality, high-service environment, has experience in driving sales excellence within an organization managing multiple sales channels.

The successful candidate must be commercially astute with strong customer relationship management skills.

Job Description

  • Provide clear vision and leadership to the Sales, Installation, and Commercial Customer Support teams, ensuring there is a clear commercial strategy and plan in place.
  • Ensure that robust sales plans are in place across the key sales divisions by customer and product group to maximize profits and share of business within each customer.
  • Achieve sales and profit levels in line with budget targets across specified categories and customer segmentation, whilst ensuring first-class standards of service.
  • Close focus on price and cost management, ensuring protection of profit margins.
  • Lead and manage effective cross-functional relationships with key internal stakeholders to implement targeted sales strategies.
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships within key customers.

The Successful Applicant

  • Demonstrable experience as a senior Sales Director with an intimate knowledge and understanding of the customer landscape within the construction supply sector.
  • A track record and strong C-Level relationships across the UK house building sector with both developers and contractors.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills and demonstrable experience of leading large teams in a sales and commercial business-to-business environment.
  • Strong entrepreneurial and commercial instincts and looks for new ways to drive success.
  • Excellent communicator with good facilitation skills and a highly developed influencing style across all levels of stakeholders both internal and external.
  • The gravitas and charisma to undertake senior customer engagements and relationship management.
  • Able to process complex information to recognize the commercial and account development opportunities to create compelling commercial propositions for both parties.
  • Open leadership style with strong values and integrity.
  • Ideally located in the Midlands or North of the UK.
