We are looking for a Quality Assurance Specialist to join our Quality Assurance team, reporting to the Global QA Director. Your primary responsibility is to ensure that our toy products comply with the legal and regulatory requirements across different markets. You will monitor, interpret, and implement global safety and compliance standards, providing technical expertise throughout the product lifecycle. The role is based in Cheadle, Cheshire.

As a Quality Assurance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the highest industry compliance standards. You will work closely with global teams to align and implement technical standards, monitor regulatory updates, and provide expert guidance on product safety and compliance. Additionally, you will contribute to policy development, training programs, and risk assessments to ensure our products meet all necessary regulations.

To achieve this, your functions will be the following:

  • Provide expert guidance on product regulatory compliance, interpreting Directives, Regulations, and Safety Standards including but not limited to EN 71, ASTM, battery-operated, electrically operated products, and cosmetics.
  • Regularly review and update company policies to align with current legislation and best practices.
  • Work closely with global teams to ensure alignment and implementation of technical standards and directives.
  • Monitor and analyze regulatory updates, conducting risk and impact assessments.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining compliance policies and manuals.
  • Provide training sessions, webinars, and presentations to enhance compliance knowledge across the business.
  • Support internal and external customers with technical compliance queries.
  • Stay informed about industry changes, including product safety, international regulations, physical and chemical requirements, and import regulations.
  • Share regulatory updates with relevant teams and, when necessary, inform factories about required changes.
  • Participate in industry association meetings and technical policy committees, building partnerships and networks as required, attending technical committee meetings when required.

Knowledge and characteristics required:

  • 5+ years of experience in Product Compliance Assessment within the toy industry or related consumer goods sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of safety standards, regulatory bodies, and industry associations.
  • Strong understanding of product and technical standards for a long-term supply strategy.
  • Experience in consumer product safety testing and global regulatory requirements.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of recent regulatory developments with excellent analytical skills to assess regulatory changes and their impact.
  • A university degree in Textile Science, Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Experience in designing product specifications to meet global safety regulations.
  • Ability to build relationships with regulatory authorities and industry associations.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and other languages preferred.
