Group M&A and Technical Accounting Manager

We're hiring a Group M&A and Technical Accounting Manager as part of our team based from our London office.
Purpose of the Role
The role is responsible for providing expert guidance and support on IFRS accounting and reporting matters, specifically on M&A related activities and ad-hoc technical accounting issues. The role will report to the Head of Group Financial Reporting and Accounting and will be working closely with senior stakeholders within the wider finance group.
Key Responsibilities
M&A Related Accounting Expert
- Provide ongoing support to group and regional M&A teams in their negotiations with potential vendors or buyers to ensure that the terms of SPAs and shareholder agreements result in appropriate accounting outcomes.
- Lead the review of key acquisition and disposal accounting balances as part of the quarterly and year-end reporting cycle.
Delivering Technical Accounting Excellence
- Provide best in class technical accounting advice on areas of complexity and new business activities.
- Facilitate internal discussions on key areas of financial judgements and propose recommended accounting treatment.
- Partner with the business to assess the impact from changes in accounting standards and/or business strategy.
- Research technical accounting issues and provide support on complex business transactions.
- Author technical accounting papers to document key considerations where required.
- Support regional and market finance teams on technical accounting matters.
- Assist with preparation of materials for Board, external audit and other meetings.
- Assist on other business projects as required.
Process Improvement and Control
- Develop a robust process to ensure capturing and documenting areas of significant judgement appropriately.
- Maintain and update accounting policies to ensure compliance with IFRS.
- Partner with Dentsu Group Finance on technical accounting and reporting matters.
Finance Team Development
- Line manager for the M&A and technical accounting senior group accountant.
- Be an active part of the Group Finance team, focusing on developing technical accounting knowledge across all Finance teams.
- Provide support and training on emerging accounting standards, including developing training materials.
External Audit
- Primary point of contact for external auditors on M&A and disposal related matters.
Key Skills
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA) with a minimum of 4-6 years post qualification experience.
- Big 4 trained up to at least manager level.
- Previous experience in a Technical Accounting role.
- Experience on accounting for mergers and acquisitions.
- Proven experience of implementing new standards and best practices in technical accounting.
- Experience of working in a large multinational company.
- Capability to guide and coach other team members.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Excellent at liaising with senior stakeholders.
