Group Facilitator

The service you will work in…. The Grove Outreach is a vibrant and busy service which enables Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea residents to avoid, and in particular to reduce the need for, prolonged hospital admissions and long-term dependency on mental health services. The Grove delivers community based, person-centred and holistic support to service users aged over 18, who have severe or enduring complex needs. We provide a weekly range of creative activities including art, pottery and social discussion groups. We are a rewarding service in which we work closely in co-production with our service users in order to increase their independence and combat isolation.

A day in this role looks like….

As a Group Facilitator at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our Mental Health and Complex Needs Service. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence. A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

1. To support the rest of the day centre team in the effective running of the rolling activity programme.
2. Working in an empowering and motivating way to enable group members to participate comfortably in structured activities.
3. Managing group dynamics to foster a safe and accepting environment in group settings.
4. To contribute to the overall running of the day centre service.
5. To be responsible for the support and well-being of a group of key service users allocated from across the team using holistic, person-centred support planning with SMART targets and the recovery star using the recovery approach to enable them to increase independence, maintain their accommodation and enjoy a good quality of life.
6. To devise effective interventions for service users who are ‘hard to engage'.
7. To enable the service users to access medical services and the local community mainstream services.
8. To ensure that allocated service users have a needs & risk assessment and SMART support plan; which are reviewed at agreed frequencies.

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:

1. Experience of working with people requiring support related to mental ill health and complex needs.
2. Experience of facilitating activity or support groups.
3. Excellent knowledge of issues related to signs, symptoms and treatments of mental illness; ability to assess service users declining mental health and take appropriate action.
4. Knowledge of key working, person centred support planning systems and the recovery approach.
5. Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
