We are recruiting for a Grounds Maintenance Operative based in Knottingley.
• £14.38 per hour with opportunities for price work

What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Site Supervisor, you will be completing ground maintenance works. Travel and overnighters will be part of the job. Responsibilities include:
- Ensure you follow the Company Management System, including but not limited to risk assessments, method statements, construction phase plans, etc.
- Assist with the preparation of sites, including unloading and storing of building materials and plant.
- Store, handle, use, and dispose of materials in the correct manner.
- Perform physical tasks including but not limited to basic timber shuttering, concreting, drainage, chainsaw work, strimming, digging, grass cutting, and other general maintenance and construction labourer duties.
- Where required or necessary, operate heavy machinery in conjunction with CPCS training e.g., diggers/dumpers/compressors.
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment including wearing full PPE at all times.
- Follow all training and reasonable instructions given.
- Work safely within or close to rivers and other watercourses, at height, and in confined spaces.
- Have an awareness of the protection & preservation of wildlife and habitat.
- Demonstrate good driving skills in company vans, where driving will be monitored and tracked.
- Be willing to travel and work away from home, as and when required.
- On occasion, be willing to be placed on standby for out-of-hours call-outs to assist our clients in emergency response situations.
Who we’re looking for
You’ll need some experience in grounds maintenance, a valid CSCS card, and be comfortable using a strimmer, brush cutter, and ride-on mower.
- Possess a conscientious and positive attitude to work.
- Be self-motivated and have the ability to complete daily tasks with minimum supervision.
- Experience of working safely in a high-risk environment.
- Ability to follow instructions and accept personal responsibility.
- Ability to lift, carry, and push equipment.
- Ability to act on initiative, particularly in respect to Health & Safety and report relevant matters.
- Ability to complete any training courses necessary to fulfil the role such as water safety, CSCS, confined space, etc.
- Driving licence.
