The Grounds and Landscaping Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring the 64-acre estate and two remote sites are maintained and developed to the highest possible standards. This position is essential to preserving the natural beauty, functionality, and safety of the grounds, including gardens, sports pitches, water features, and surrounding infrastructure.

The role combines technical expertise in horticulture, landscaping, and maintenance with hands-on work, contributing to the overall presentation and operational efficiency of the estate.

Job Description

The Estate and Grounds Manager will oversee the management, maintenance, and enhancement of the external areas at the Radbroke Campus. This role balances hands-on groundskeeping with strategic leadership, combining technical expertise with management responsibilities. By implementing a professional, sustainable, and innovative grounds maintenance strategy, the manager will ensure that the campus remains visually impressive, environmentally sustainable, and aligned with industry best practices. The role also focuses on long-term planning and project execution to continually improve the site’s functionality and aesthetics.

Key Responsibilities

Provision of grounds Maintenance:

• Maintenance of grassed Areas.
• Maintenance of trees, shrubs, flower beds and hedges.
• Maintenance and control of debris and litter.
• Maintenance of ponds and watercourses.

Other duties:

• Implement a professional, sustainable, and innovative grounds maintenance strategy for the campus.
• Prepare and maintain all external areas in line with industry/environmental best practice and standards.
• Plan the day-to-day work programme for the Landscaping Team.
• Operate light and heavy equipment, including but not limited to tractor, mowers, rotavators, sprinklers and shredders, chainsaws, chippers.
• Allocation, maintenance, and security of plant, tools and equipment ensuring all equipment is correctly stored, maintained and serviced.
• Create and maintain relationships with key suppliers.
• Establish and manage budgets for all aspects of work undertaken.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

Any relevant gardening or landscaping qualification will be considered; however, the following will convey an advantage:

• Chain Saw use (CS30.1 and CS30.2)
• Tractor driving
• Full driving license with provision for driving with trailer attached.

Experiences:

• Experience in horticultural services or large scale garden maintenance.

Skills:

• Able to work on own initiative in a high profile environment.
• Highly motivated and able to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
• Able to change work pattern to accommodate business requirements.
