Job Summary:

The Ordering Clerk manages and coordinates the store's ordering and inventory control processes while ensuring efficient and accurate stock levels.

Essential Functions of the Position:

1. Place and manage orders for store merchandise, ensuring timely and accurate procurement of items.
2. Verify and track orders from suppliers, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
3. Maintain relationships with suppliers and salespeople to ensure optimal order fulfillment.
4. Oversee department standards, maintain accurate stock levels, proper codes, and good rotation of items.
5. Verify invoices for accurate billing and maintain inventory control.
6. Monitor inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts and adjust orders accordingly.
7. Review all DSD deliveries to ensure accurate and timely receipt of goods.
8. Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment, including using personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
9. Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and barcode scanners safely and efficiently.
10. Monitor for and report any theft, damage, or loss of inventory and take steps to minimize shrinkage.
11. Monitor store conditions and report areas of concern to store management promptly.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge:

1. Understanding of inventory systems and procedures.
2. Familiarity with standard warehouse practices, safety protocols, and equipment.
3. Awareness of grocery products and categories to handle and store items correctly.
4. Knowledge of OSHA guidelines and other relevant health and safety regulations.
5. Understand procedures for ordering.

Skills:

1. Ensure accuracy in stock levels and documentation.
2. Proficiency in using inventory management software, barcode scanners, and other warehouse technologies.
3. Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with other staff and managing documentation.

Abilities:

1. Ability to identify and resolve issues related to inventory discrepancies or storage problems.
2. Efficiently managing time to complete tasks within deadlines, especially during busy periods.
3. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle various tasks as needed.

Physical Requirements:

1. Stand and walk for extended periods, typically 8-hour shifts.
2. Lift and carry items up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
3. Perform repetitive motions such as reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, and handling products.
4. Climb ladders to perform warehouse tasks at elevated heights.
5. Maintain clear communication with customers and team members.
6. Move quickly and efficiently to assist customers and manage workload.
7. Maintain physical stamina to work in a fast-paced environment.
8. Ability to perform tasks that require fine motor skills, such as using tools or handling small objects.
9. Operate equipment to move or store products and displays.

Work Conditions:

1. Work Hours: Vary, with availability required on weekends, evenings, and holidays; typically, 8-hour shifts for full-time employees.
2. Environment: Indoor, climate-controlled, with adequate lighting and ventilation.
3. Primary Work Stations: Work within the grocery store environments, which include various sections such as the sales floor, backrooms, and exterior areas.
4. Dress Code: Professional and presentable attire as determined by store management, including a name tag, company-issued shirts, hats, jackets, or personal shirts that are black, burgundy, or blue, in good repair, and not faded.
5. Exposure: May be exposed to moving mechanical parts and cleaning chemicals.
6. Noise Level: Usually low to moderate, with occasional loud periods from customers, store announcements, and equipment.
7. Interaction: Constant interaction with customers and team members in a fast-paced retail environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Experience: Grocery or Warehouse Clerk experience is preferred.
