Coventry

£35,000 - £40,000 DOE + 20 days holiday + Company car + AllStar Fuel card + Mobile phone + health scheme + life insurance scheme + 5.5% salary

About the Role:

My client is recruiting for an applications engineer position in their growing Grinding Department. This role is ideal for a technically skilled manufacturing engineer, production engineer, or an applications engineer looking to transition into the grinding sector. The successful candidate will have a strong working knowledge of CNC programming and process development. This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of the UK's leading machine tool agents, working with high-end grinding technology and partnering with blue-chip companies.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide technical support to customers on grinding applications and machining processes.
2. Develop and implement grinding strategies to maximize efficiency and quality.
3. Program CNC grinding machines, optimizing cycle times and tool paths.
4. Conduct machine trials, time studies, testing, and process validation at customer sites.
5. Assist in machine installations, commissioning, and training for operators.
6. Collaborate with R&D, sales, and service teams to deliver tailored turnkey solutions.
7. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
8. Keep up to date with industry trends and advancements in grinding technology.
9. Travel both nationally and internationally as required by the role.

Key Requirements:

1. Proven experience in precision applications, CNC programming, and machine tool engineering is desirable.
2. Manufacturing and production backgrounds will also be considered.
3. Strong knowledge of grinding processes, tooling, and machine setup is desired, but turning or milling process knowledge is also beneficial as full training will be provided.
4. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
5. Hands-on experience with CNC controls (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain).
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
7. Strong communication skills to liaise with clients and internal teams.
8. Willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK and internationally.
9. A valid UK driving license.
10. Knowledge of CAD/CAM software for CNC programming.
