About the role

As a Greenspace Project Delivery Officer in our Major Projects and Programmes Team, you will be responsible for delivering Greenspaces (Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace) that benefit the community and wildlife in East Devon.

In this interesting and varied role, you will work with partners and stakeholders to help mitigate the impact of recreational pressure on internationally protected habitats by ensuring co-ordination, planning, finance, acquisition, implementation, and long-term delivery of Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG).

You will play a key role in ensuring that SANGs and other green infrastructure projects are well-designed, properly located, and effectively managed. These alternative spaces should be as attractive as, or more attractive than, the protected sites to successfully divert visitors. Your responsibility will include project scoping, planning, overseeing the implementation, and ensuring ongoing management and funding for these projects.

Ideally this will be a full-time role; however, flexibility will be considered for the right candidate.

About you

Highly motivated with excellent project management and organisation skills, you will have a strong track record in delivering green infrastructure projects and initiatives, with experience in delivering projects in natural and semi-natural habitats. You will be an effective and confident communicator and have the ability to work with people across a range of management responsibilities and organisations to build consensus and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

You will be able to identify opportunities and scope options for project delivery and ideally, have an understanding of using CIL & s106 contributions to deliver green infrastructure projects, as well as an understanding of potential sources of grant funding. In addition to identifying potential sites, the role will include elements of landowner negotiation, SANGs master planning, establishment, management planning, and securing the necessary finances/budgets. You will also have knowledge of current issues relating to protected species and habitats, green infrastructure, planning, and climate change.

A driving licence is essential for this role, as you will need to travel as required (reasonable adjustments may be possible according to the Equality Act).
