Portland House Veterinary Group are a group of 2 mixed animal practices located in Retford and Newark and has been working in partnership with clients in and around the Retford area for over 50 years. You will be based at our Retford branch but will also be required to work at our Ollerton branch. Retford is a stunning market town located 26 miles east of Sheffield, 23 miles west of Lincoln, and 31 miles north-east of Nottingham. We have great transport links including Retford train station which is a 5 minute drive or 20 minute walk from the practice.

Our main practice in Retford consists of 15 vets and 14 RVNs/SVNs with experience ranging from new graduates to 35 years. We have a fantastic team of support staff and a loyal client base with both large and small animal. We pride ourselves in providing excellent patient, client, and employee care. We are a welcoming and friendly team who are enthusiastic and dedicated to working together. We believe strongly in delivering exceptional service and care to our clients and their pets.

From Retford we provide services for farm and small animal clients as well as wildlife parks and zoos. We are well equipped with an ultrasound with Doppler and ECG, digital DR x-ray, CR dental x-ray, video endoscopy, and full internal lab.

Step into a supportive start

Your normal hours of work are 40.5 hours per week, 5 days a week. Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 6pm. You may also be required to participate in a weekend rota and/or an out-of-hours on-call rota which will include working on weekends and bank holidays.

Graduates will have key points of contact for clinical and pastoral support. They will be supported across all disciplines undertaken at the practice as required. Graduates are encouraged to learn new skills and fully participate in CPD/VetGDP. We aim to guide graduates towards self-reliance and independence through a broad and balanced skill set. We will work with graduates on an individual basis to align our aspirations with theirs. We have regular meetings, social events, one to ones as well as multiple communication channels to allow everyone access to information.
