GSL Education are offering an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN) to support students with diverse learning needs in primary and secondary schools across Newcastle. This role is ideal for those considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, or therapy.

Why This Role?

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN), you’ll work closely with teachers and SENCOs to support students with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.

What You’ll Be Doing:

1. Providing one-to-one and small-group support for students with SEN.
2. Assisting teachers in delivering tailored lessons that meet individual learning needs.
3. Helping students develop confidence, independence, and key skills.
4. Creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
5. Monitoring progress and sharing feedback with teachers and parents.
6. Supporting students during breaks, lunchtime, and transitions.

What We’re Looking For:

1. A degree in Psychology, Education, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent).
2. Experience working with children or young people, ideally in education or care.
3. A passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs.
4. Understanding of autism, ADHD, and other SEN conditions.
5. Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.
6. Ability to work well as part of a team and follow guidance from teachers.
7. An up-to-date CV (covering the last 10 years with no unexplained gaps).
8. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
